The Plague

This week I thought it would be fun to look at the fears of the end humans have, as through my novels I have to guess what the future could hold. Fear of the end has been around since the dawn of time and will be around forever, until when/if we actually go.

But one that is predictable and very real is a plague. It has been used in many a media, from video games to movies. Zombies are big now, a plague that is entirely possible, but not probable. More than likely it will be something along the lines of the black plague or some strain of ebola. Nothing like the over hyped swine flu, if it comes it will be something that puts the death rate through the roof. Do you think we will ever live through such an ordeal?

  1. This one is very realistic, one germ could take us down

  3. a zombie plague would be crazy...thinking back to the major plagues we have had that would be pretty brutal seeing people around you dying and just waiting to see if you got it..

  4. Hoping for the no, but certainly not something that can be ruled out.

  5. I think western medicine will kill any chance of a real plague

  6. And the real plague--as in bubonic that killed a third of Europe--still exists today. They even have a few cases every year.

  8. As I think back about history, I think the pandemic of 1918 is about as close as we'll get, and yes I believe something like that could happen again. I also think we could have a human caused plague related to oil spills or radiation or something, combined with a natural disaster that slowly but surely poisons our food supply and makes us weak and sick, gradually over time. Common sense tells me this could happen, because sometimes we're so focused on the here and now, we forget to take precautions for the future.

  9. I surely hope not, but there is always a chance. New bugs are popping up all the time. One is bound to be a real killer.
