Trakošćan

Another Castle that just makes you want to stop and stare.

Trakošćan castle can be found in Croatia dating back to at least the 13th century. I has changed hands many times and through out the years even been left unoccupied, even more times than it changed hands. The draft must not have been appreciated, but that is just my thought.

Burg of Forchtenstein

One thing I enjoy is castles and researched a few when writing Sultan of Monte Cristo. So I thought I'd show a few off this week.

Burg of Forchtenstein

Its position is said to be so invincible that the Turks failed to sieze it twice, in 1529 and 1683. It has walls that are 40 feet thick and resides in Austria. As with most castles now a days you can tour it too.
